Some of you have already familiarized with the new MC gameplay, some of you not. So decided to make the following list of several tactical tips which I think should help you when playing MC.

Here they are:

DEFENSIVE LINES

Do not base your defences only on a single defensive line. This may worked with the original BK gameplay, but in MC, the enemy is really capable of achieving a brakethrough and therefore if you would rely on just a single defensive line, this situation would then mean either loosing the battle or loading it.

Make your defences as a set of several lines with strongpoints and armored reserves to be able to face the enemy more effectively. So if the enemy brakes through, their advancing units can still be caught by your second defensive line (still not broken by ground, air and artillery attacks), at least until your reserves arrive and destroy them.

MOBILE RESERVES

If not absolutely necessary, do not use your tanks for a static defensive line by digging them. This role shall be left to infantry and AT guns, while tanks and SPG should remain as a mobile reserves, because MC requires you to build your defences not as the static lines, but to rely more on flexible defences with usage of armored units as highly mobile reserves being able to close the impending gap in your frontline caused by the enemy brakethrough. Moreover, SPG and heavy tanks have longer fire range, so they eliminate such static defenced based on dug-in tanks without even being spotted sometimes.

To do it most effectively, try to place your mobile reserves into such strategic points, that will allow you to hit the advancing enemy units more or less from another direction than the frontal one.

In case of emergency, when not many tanks will be available to you (e.g. due to losses from heavy fighting), you can still try to refill your reserves with infantry AT teams equipped with AT charges. These are pretty effective even against heavy armor.

ATTACKING DIRECTIONS

Always try to avoid a frontal assault. This is quite long and costly process. Instead, use reconnaissance, try to search for weak points in the enemy defences, attack their strongpoints from sides or from rear and generally from more than one direction. This will give you an important advantage over your enemy not only because it will be harder for him to withstand the attack from several sides but also in case he calls his mobile reserves - these can be ambushed and also attacked from more directions after they arrive to the frontline.

COMBINED ARMS

Combining unit types correctly is essential not only in AP, but also in MC. You must support your tanks with infantry units as well as vice versa to be successful and avoid heavy losses. Remember that even a weak armored car can support your advancing soldiers effectively and therefore help them keep advancing. This way, you can e.g. neutralize the enemy AT guns by your infantry and allow your tanks go through. Or distract the attention of the main part of the enemy units with your infantry and then take them by surprise by attacking them with your main forces from another direction. Or on the other hand, when your infantrymen are sufficiently supported by the armored units, several enemy tanks do not mean the need of their immediate retreat then. So never let one unit type fight alone without the support of the others.

ARTILLERY PREPARATION

MC gameplay allows you to use your long-range artillery even such phase of the battle when the enemy artillery guns are still not neutralized. So use it. At least before an attack on any stronger enemy position, dedicate several moments for artillery preparation. Even if the arty cannot be used to destroy the enemy units one by one, still by shelling the enemy strongpoint, you will weaken his defences there and therefore increase your chances of a successful attack.

ARTILLERY SUPPORT

Thanks to the above written feature, you can use your long-range artillery even if they are within the fire range of the enemy arty guns, so again, use it. To reveal the position of the long-range arty, there must be used standard recon techniques (i.e. spotting them by ground or air units), because with the exception of mobile rocket launchers, those orange circles on the minimap revealing the position of a firing artillery, do not exist any more.

So don't be affraid to use your arty support also for defensive purposes - especially mortars, which can fire faster and more accurate. Because using the arty for a defensive shelling barrage will weaken the advancing enemy units even before they will get within the line of fire of your units (especially when talking about infantry) and therefore it can mean a difference between holding the line and defeat.

TANK CLASHES

Using an "Aggresive Movement" command and expecting a victory is not a wise style for tank-to-tank combat. To be successful in such clashes, you will need to command your tanks directly during that engagement to be able to effectively lead them to shoot at the side or rear armor of the enemy tanks and SPG (being usually much weaker than the frontal armor). You can also utilize the fact, that the tracked vehicles can now be immobilized also by a gun hit. Generally, keep your tanks maneuvering as much as possible when engaging the enemy armored units and always try to avoid shooting at their frontal armor.

IN GENERAL:

ATTACK

a) Use recon units to discover the strength and emplacement of enemy defences.
b) Use your arty to perform the artillery preparation to weaken the enemy.
c) Search for and clear the minefields in case they are laid down there.
d) Attack with combined arms and if possible, not from the frontal direction.
e) Proceed slowly and carefully.
f) When engaging enemy armored units, try to avoid shooting at their frontal armor by maneuvering your own units into a better positions.

DEFENCE

a) Defend the whole frontline.
b) Concentrate your defences around villages, settlements and other important strongpoints, while covering the open space by minor units.
c) Do not rely just on a single defensive line but build at least another one (even if significantly weaker) to catch the potential enemy brakethrough.
d) Use your arty to weaken the advancing enemy units.
e) Keep the main part of your armor as mobile reserves and leave the static defences on AT guns supported by infantry.
f) Do not give up even if the enemy brakes through. Until the "YOU LOOSE" message appears, the battle continues and if you respected the above written principles, such situation can still be successfully solved, even if it initially looked hopeless.

Basic infantry tactics

One of the greatest things in MC is the role of infantry, you probably wont have any chance in an attack if your tanks arent covert by infantry. Here are some little tips about how use your infantry, I think it can be a good manual, specially to begginers.

Step1: Let's say you want to attack the church. You have two ordinary squads (red and green), one machinegun squad (blue). An AT Gun is giving covert, you can add a mortar, machine guns and a truck to support your soldiers.
Image

Step 2: When your troops are in the range of the enemy, change to deffensive movement and press "stay" button to the first group (red). The second group (green) keep attacking.
Image

Step 3: Now the green group "stay" and change to deffensive movement. The red group pass. The blue group enter in the house to support the attack (the enemy wont shot him cause they are shoting on the red and green group.

You can make a more complex version of these tactics using a fourth group to enter in the church, tanks and machine guns to support then.

@GordonCZ: I hope you dont mind I posted it here.

Surely not, it's an excellent tutorial. =D>

Just to add a note: If you would enter a building with any squad(s), then its garrison will not shoot outside but you still can shoot inside with the other units.

EDIT: I merged the BB's "Basic infantry tactics" with "MC tactical tips" and make this topic available for everyone willing to share his tips about MC tactics...
